Hope

21This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
26It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
Lamentations 3:21-26
I love the opening of this passage. Jeremiah says "this I recall to mind therefore have I hope" Just a moment before Jeremiah was remembering his affliction but then he recalls these wonderful facts. Not to long ago I was like Jeremiah, we all are like him sometimes, sinking in the despair of our tribulations. I was wondering where God was and why it seemed that he couldn't hear me. Then I came across this passage and I felt hopeful. Today I want to share that hope with you. God is a merciful god. When we are in the depths of despair He wants us to remember that He is a merciful and compassionate God. It is like a fresh breath of air each morning and He is faithful about it. That means he doesn't forget or show up late. Deep in our heart we know that God is the only thing that is infinite and eternal. That he is the only one who can satisfy the desires of our heart. Truly our only hope is in Him.
